Step 1: Report the Accident to Your Compañía de Seguros
Notify your auto insurance company of the accident as soon as possible — ideally dentro de las 24 horas. You can do this by calling the number on su seguro card. Provide the date, time, location, and a brief description of the accident. Do not admit fault.
Step 2: Complete the NF-2 Application (30-Day Deadline)
Your insurance company will send you a Sin Culpa application form (NF-2). You must complete and return this form within 30 days of the accident date. This is a hard deadline — missing it can result in denial of all Sin Culpa benefits. At MAIC, our intake team helps pacientes complete the NF-2 at their first visit.
Step 3: Attend All Requerido Examinations
Your insurer may require you to attend an examination bajo juramento (EUO) and/or an Independent Medical Examination (IME) with a médico of their choosing. You must attend these examinations or risk suspension of benefits. However, you have rights at these exams — you can have your abogado present at an EUO.
Step 4: Continue Tratamiento and Maintain Records
Continue all prescribed tratamiento consistently. Gaps in tratamiento give insurers grounds to argue your injuries have resolved. Keep copies of all records and report any changes in your condition to your treating médico promptly.
MAIC handles all Sin Culpa billing and authorization submissions for our pacientes. Call (888) 991-5290 to get started.
